Environmental odour assessment toolkit
This online odour seminar was presented by our UK odour expert, Paul Ottley during a session organized by the Institution of Environmental Sciences (IES) in February 2021. The presentation outlined the various odour analysis and assessment techniques currently available to investigate odour problems for planning, permitting or nuisance investigation purposes. Besides the identification of odour sources, the webinar looked at sensory and chemical odour analysis techniques, as well as dispersion modelling. A number of interesting case studies illustrated how these can be applied. Last but not least, Paul provided an outlook on the forthcoming developments in odour assessment science.
Odour testing of personal & home care products
Scent is a primary purchase driver in personal care and home care products making fragrance a key element in product marketing.
This online odour seminar was presented by our odour expert, Rita Ribau Domingues during the SEPAWA Congress in Berlin during 28 and 30 October 2020. The SEPAWA Congress is one of the most significant meeting points of the detergents/cleansers, cosmetics and fragrance industry in Europe. The topic of Rita’s expert talk was “What smells good sells better: Odour testing in personal and home care products”.
Odour testing in the automotive industry
The odour of a car’s interior is an important factor for consumers. And while it might not be high on their list of priorities, it’s certainly something they’ll notice if it’s not up to scratch. No wonder, then, that automotive manufacturers have developed an array of checks, guidelines and standards in this area.
In this online odour seminar, our consultant Romy Jacobs provides an overview on relevant standards, sampling strategies and methodologies for standardised odour testing in the automotive sector, from testing the individual components used in vehicle interiors, to determining the overall odour character of the car.
Odour testing in the packaging industry
Unpleasant odours originating from packaged products can be interpreted by consumers as contaminated and/or unsafe. That’s why odour analysis of packaging products is key – whether you’re looking to develop new products, quality-assure existing ones or benchmark your competitors’ products.
In this online odour seminar, our senior consultant Rita Ribau Domingues provides an overview on relevant standards, individualized sampling strategies and sensory as well as molecular methodologies for odour testing of packaging materials, ranging from raw materials, additives or final products.
Odour testing in the hygiene industry
Odour is a constant topic in the hygiene industry. Either companies get complaints about the smell of their product and it is important to learn what compounds are responsible or companies have developed solutions that reduce malodours of the product in-use and want to prove the odour reducing effect scientifically.
In this online odour seminar, our senior consultant Dr. Nathalie Fentzahn will give an overview on testing methodologies for standardised odour testing, including different case studies.
Panel selection and training (panel management)
Odour evaluation requires a homogeneous and representative panel. In this online odour seminar, our P&M consultant Lieke van Genderen will show how Olfasense selects, trains and monitors the noses in question.
