The German\u00a0\u201cMarkenschutzgesetz\u201d (law for protection of branded products) is very strict, as\u00a0the line between the legal perfume and\u00a0the illegal forgery is very small. However,\u00a0the market for these twins is increasing.\u00a0To determine if perfume dupes are\u00a0really similar, human sensory evaluation\u00a0is essential. The objective is to check if\u00a0humans can perceive differences in the\u00a0odour profile. It should be noted that\u00a0differences in perception might appear\u00a0only some time after application. Another approach for testing differences\u00a0in perfumes is molecular analysis. Different analytical methods are available and\u00a0have their pro\u2019s and con\u2019s. The following\u00a0article describes the analysis of perfumes\u00a0with the GC-IMS.
