On 25 and 26 January 2017, Olfasense played host to more than 50 professionals of different specialties from 20+ countries, offering various sessions on sensory and molecular odour testing and providing great networking opportunities as well as hands-on\u00a0training.<\/p>\n

Unlike previous workshops that had a defined focus on product and material testing, this year\u2019s session also included a Technical Training Day, which had a stronger focus on olfactometry equipment, and was intended to share know-how on how to set up, maintain and manage an olfactometry laboratory, and help clients make most of their odour measurement\u00a0equipment.<\/p>\n
Besides many Olfasense specialists, the workshops featured some key experts in their fields, including Prof. Dr. Thomas J. Simat, Chair of Food Science and Consumer Goods at the University of Technology Dresden, Fragrance & Flavour Science Expert Dr. Hansruedi Gygax (Gygarome), as well as US odour expert Michael McGinley (St. Croix Sensory,\u00a0Inc.).<\/p>\n
\u201cEvery year we try to provide our workshop audience with the best industry-leading speaker lineup in order to find the right answers to their odour-related questions,\u201d said Olfasense director Simon R\u00fctzel-Gr\u00fcnberg. \u201cIt\u2019s important for us to share know-how and to offer actionable advice for our community. The inspiring morning programme was succeeded by different lab exercises, devoting sufficient time for practical sessions on specific odour measurement techniques in the Olfasense laboratories to provide skills, encourage participation and exchange\u00a0information.<\/p>\n
